Authentic Matcha Tea Bowl
In the Japanese Tea Ceremony, a host will prepare teas for guests. It is a polite gesture to raise the tea bowl a little to acknowledge that you will receive this tea. The host prepares a small portion of tea in the large tea bowl. The bowl is large, and the portion of tea is small, which follows the tradition of how one is served Matcha in Japan.
Matcha bowls vary from potter to potter. Generally, the host will pick a tea bowl according to the season. Thus, color and pattern have a meaning to reflect the mood in the tea room.
These Matcha tea bowls are Kyoto Style (Kiyomizu ware). These tea bowls are great to use in any season and elegant. We have 4 styles for you to choose from:
