We are not sure when exactly this tea was created. We have heard it was about 80 years ago. Rice is the main staple of Asians. Since they have an abundance of it, with a high cost of tea leaves at the time, it was being roasted and added to tea to create a new flavor. It gives a comforting quality. We normally brew it hot, but it can be enjoyable as iced.

BREWING DIRECTION: About 6 grams per 8oz, 90c for two minutes. Multiple brews.

Genmaicha reminds me of all happy memories drinking tea at my favorite restaurants. It has a mild, toasty flavor, and if you are looking for an afternoon tea that is light on caffeine, this is a good choice.
love it! I am a repeat buyer of this tea, if you are looking for an all around good genmaicha this is your tea. It has a smoothe flavor, with a hint of rice. Steeping it for 3 minutes at 170 degrees Fahrenheit makes a good cup. You can also re steep it if you want.
